Graded Bark

Donex have all grades of bark available, from Growing Media to top quality landscape material. We also can supply the very popular Cambium for ground cover and playground areas.

In regard to using graded bark as a growing medium most producers take freshly removed bark from the logs and artificially compost it with a process that involves using water and nitrogen fertilisers. This is a rather rapid process and is completed within 12-15 weeks. Effectively this process deactivates toxins and neutralises nitrogen that consumes micro-organisms. Donex have found that this does not remain stable and after a period of time pH ratings can decrease and nitrogen draw-down can begin to increase causing a slowdown in growth.

Our supply of graded bark comes from unlimited access to bark which has been left to naturally decompose over a period of fifteen to twenty years. This means we can offer a completely inert growing media which is highly stable and most importantly, is completely organic.
